Tex Mex Pasta Bake
Ingredients
For the sauce:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground sausage (I prefer hot, but you may substitute with mild.)
2 packs taco seasoning
2 tsp garlic powder
1 (29 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (29 oz) can tomato puree
Pasta:
1 lb pasta (your choice of shape)
Cheeses:
8 oz Monterrey Jack cheese, shredded
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Your choice of garnishes such as:
Black olives
lettuce
cilantro
tomatoes
sour cream
salsa
avocado
Directions
-
Cook pasta about one minute less than directed on the package. This will prevent the pasta from becoming too soft during the baking process.
-
Drain the pasta and set aside.
-
Brown the meat in a saucepan and add all other ingredients for the sauce.
-
Cook for about ten minutes.
-
Spray a casserole dish with baking spray to prevent sticking.
-
Layer the pasta, sauce and cheeses by alternating each layer.
-
Finish off with cheese on top.
-
Bake on 350 degrees until bubbly and slightly brown on top.
-
Remove and let it rest for about ten minutes before serving.
-
Top with your choice of garnishes.
